The Perez Conundrum - Part 1

Personally, I was disappointed when Mclaren chose the inconsistent but firey Perez over the consistent, lightning-quick Hulkenburg. The truth of the matter is, it was probably down to money and social buzz. When he signed the contract he had just secured a podium at Monza, beating the factory Ferrari team at their home track. This rightfully creates short-term buzz, however, in the long term, for example, like now, people don’t really care too much about the podium he got in the middle of last year.
So… this season he’s been 100% crushed by Button (which is a bit unfair since one is a world champion and the other was a rookie just two years ago). He’s finished ahead, but Button has taken all the significant positions like 5th and 6th, while if Perez is that high up, Button is for sure, right in front of him. Anyways let’s put out some stats:

Points ratio to Button: 7 to 12
Average finishing position: 10.588
Difference to Button’s average: +1.238
Difference to Mclaren’s average: +.618 (Want to be within 1)
Difference to last years average: +1.173
Hulkenburg’s average this year: 9.812 (just pointing that out)
