DIP: Valtteri Bottas

Valtteri Bottas was born on August 28th 1989 in Nastola, Finland. His official racing career started in 2007 in the Formula Renault UK Winter Series, which he won, but wasn't eligible because he did not hold the proper license. He then moved on to Formula Renault Eurocup and the Formula Renault Northern European Cup, which he also won both of. He then started gaining traction by signing with ART and entering more prestigious series like British F3 and Masters of Formula 3. He won Masters of F3, preceded by Jules Bianchi, and continued with ART until 2011. In 2011, he began his route to the Williams seat by signing with them as a test driver. In the same year he won GP3, then dropped all other series commitments to be a 3rd driver full time and participated in multiple Friday practice sessions. His highest finish was P8. Then, this year, after Bruno Senna had an unsatisfactory season with Williams, Bottas got his chance, and signed with the team for this year.

First Impressions: When I saw him racing, he just plain looked fast. He had only one crash in practice and was able to be consistent for the other sessions.

Prediction: Bottas clearly has no issues with his first year in new series considering he won FRE, FRNEC, and MF3 all in the first year, so he should fit in nicely. He'll definately be quick enough to bout with Maldonado but might suffer some from the longevity of the races considering all these series feature pretty short races.
