Top Four Drivers of the Spanish GP

A characteristic Spanish GP gave way to some solid individual performances.

Honorable Mention: George Russell

After what seemed like destiny, once again Russell missed out on points. It's a good thing he got that Mercedes drive, because you'd have to think that record would be getting to him by now. Nonetheless, a solid drive in a not-so-solid car. Williams must love George.

4. Pierre Gasly

Despite his unwelcome theatrics at the beginning of the race, Gasly recovered to a respectable P10. While its not where his car usually is, on a weekend with so much on the line, his victory over the 3-4 cars in his area was spectacular.

3. Esteban Ocon

In a similar driver-out-performs-car kind of vein, Ocon did what Alonso's car wouldn't let him do. Despite a mega qualifying lap, the race panned out quite differently. He had neither the pace nor the strategy to keep up with Ricciardo and Sainz, and the fact he finished ahead of the other cars on better strategies still deserves a nod. A solid finish.

2. Daniel Ricciardo

Recovery drives are always the sweetest. Despite being under the microphone for the past few races, Ricciardo has moved back into contention for the #1 seat. Today was another showing equal of his experience, and the fight between him and Norris will absolutely light up the paddock this year. Kudos to the Australian.

1. Charles Leclerc

Leclerc is soon becoming one of those drivers that doesn't get the credit they deserve. Despite finishing high above his teammate for almost three years running, his expectations are so high that we don't even notice. Today however, he gets that. One wrong move in the pits could have yielded a podium, and constantly outdoing Sainz shows how talented of a racer he really is.
