F1 Grid Key Match-ups

For the first time in a long time, we're back with key match-ups for tomorrow's race. It should be thrilling, exciting, and noticeably not boring, so let's get into it!

1. Bottas vs. 3. Verstappen

In a season as short as this, each finish really does matter. Especially when the difference in points is (25) vs. (15). It's too early in the season to call Bottas the title challenger he ought to be, so with the future in mind these two will be dueling it out for a place on the second step of the end-of-season podium.

4. Norris vs. 6 Perez

Much has been made of the unpredictability of this year's midfield championship. In our first glimpse of qualifying, those hopes have rung true. With Racing Point, Mclaren, and seemingly Ferrari all interested in staking claim over the 3rd best team rank for this season, each finish will do wonders for the team ahead. To that end, our two challengers for this week's midfield crown come from McLaren and Racing Point respectively. For Norris, the challenge is to prove himself as McLaren's bonafide #1 with Carlos Sainz out the door next season. For Checo, he finally gets the car worth of his skill in his new team, and it may be one of his final chances to add to his all-time podium count.

5. Albon vs. 7. Leclerc

Ferrari can't be this bad, can they? With a pitiful Q2 and Q3 showing under their belt from Saturday, all eyes rest on the #1 from Ferrari's garage. Can he prove Ferrari's qualifying pace is just a bump in their progression this year? The next two seasons of Leclerc's career are tied to this team, and seeing it in the midfield is the last thing he'd want to endure. Finally, for Albon, will he be Red Bull's long term option? With promising youngsters Camara and Vips in the waiting, he'll have to act soon or risk a demotion back to Alpha.

10.Ricciardo vs. 11. Vettel

The two old rivals once again lineup alongside each other for tomorrow's race. For Vettel, the stakes land in his final season in F1's success. With the car he may say goodbye to F1 in, it will be massively indicative where he finishes to see where Ferrari should expect to end up in 2020.

16. Magnussen vs. 17. Russell

At the back ,we have one battle worth following this Sunday. Russell will need to prove himself in an ailing team to climb potentially as far as the front of the grid as contracts come up in a season or two. Given Williams' rugged pace last season, Russell had only his teammate to compete with on track. Having bested him 20/21 times on raceday, it will be curious to see how much pace there is stored in the back of that Williams for 2020
