F1 if only the Reserve Drivers had Seats

Before we begin, here are the players we have to work with:

Vandoorne/Gutierrez
Buemi/Camara
Zhou
Kubica/Calderon
Fittipaldi
Aitken/Nissany/Chadwick/Ticktum (Williams are looking to feature on an episode of hoarders soon)

Let's make some teams, shall we?

Mercedes:

Stoffel Vandoorne, Sergio Sette Camara

The team at the front of the grid gets the pick of the litter, and for their money, these are the two best drivers on the grid. Camara looks to be the next young prospect to glide into the Alpha Tauri seat. He has shown pace, race-craft, and overtaking presence, and will be an excellent #2 to Vandoorne in this hypothetical situation

Ferrari:

Sebastian Buemi, Jack Aitken

The Tifosi run away largely winners here too. Buemi, with his years of experience in F1, comes as no surprise as their #1 driver. He will rack up the race wins, while a young, but obviously gifted Jack Aitken learns the ropes to take over in the future. While both will have to brush up on their Italian, no one can deny this pairing makes for the second-best duo on the grid.

Red Bull Racing:

Robert Kubica, Dan Ticktum

Ironic, isn't it? Former F1 development driver Ticktum comes highly rated as he wiggles back into the team's premier seat. While Kubica didn't exactly have the most blockbuster of campaigns last season, he's still an F1 veteran with loads of experience to bring to developing the car for 2021.

McLaren-Renault:

Guanyo Zhou, Pietro Fittipaldi

This is where ranks start to get thin. The lack of a test driver in real life for McLaren hurts them here in this all-important hypothetical scenario. Much like last season, they lineup with two relatively young drivers. Zhou looks set to be a sponsor's dream in F1 for whenever he makes that leap, and that will no doubt factor into their decision to draft him into the team first. For Fittipaldi, much like Bruno Senna, it's all about living up to the family name on the world's biggest stage to take McLaren back to the top.

Renault:

Tatiana Calderon, Roy Nissany

Honestly, it's hard to place these two on this list. With limited f2 experience, Calderon's potential is masked with a lack of data to show one way or another. For Nissan-y, his massive financial backing makes him a genuine candidate to find himself way up the field. As far as their skills go however, they are solid F2 competitors and likely to find their way into more tests in the future. Unfortunately for them they get to join the train-wreck that is Renault with their favorite reality star as a team boss.

Alpha Tauri

Jamie Chadwick, Esteban Gutierrez (from a simulator)

By far the least experienced of the teams, Chadwick and Gutierrez lineup at the back of the grid for an admittedly disappointed Alpha Tauri squad. Neither is likely to make the step to the senior team, but at least they're on the grid unlike the poor trio of Sauber, Haas and Williams. Chadwick has not seen major success in F2 as of yet, and although that might change, she still ranks worst off of the full-time reserve drivers. Now, I know you're thinking, how could 2016 Abu dhabi GP 11th place finisher Esteban gutierrez place this low? Well, he technically only runs the sim for his job at mercedes. As a result, he cant step into the car for this hypothetical series. As such, he can only drive from a sim. Even if he wins all his f1 2020 career mode races, it will give him no points towards the WDC, as such, he feature here last to complete our 7 team grid.
