Drivers of the Future

1. Pierre Gasly (France) [Red Bull Driver's Academy] (20)

Nearly, and I mean nearly missed out on a drive this season. He could easily break into the field next season, as he's a member of Red Bull's junior driving squad. A debut season at Toro Rosso in 2 years or even Manor this season could be on the cards for this Frenchman.

2. Charles Leclerc (Monaco) [Ferrari Driver's Academy] (19)

(Pictured: 2 drivers who scored the same number of points last season)

The Monegasque Monster Charles Leclerc has been tearing it up in GP2 as of late, and you may have even heard of him from his activities in and around the F1 pit lane. He'll want to fair better than his fellow driver from Monaco, Stefano Coletti who now races in the WEC at the age of 27.

3. Lando Norris (Great Britain) [Josef Kaufmann Racing] (17!)

Though he might struggle to match the repetoir of Chuck, Lando is a force to be reckoned with. As F1 drivers get younger and younger, it might not be that long until we find ourselves watching young Lando Norris lap Sepang or Monaco. He's already won the Toyota racing series out of New Zealand, and the FR 2.0 series. The latter was won by Scott Speed in '05 on his way to driving for Toro Rosso. Look out for this Brit in the future.

4. Sergey Sirotkin (Russia) [ART] (21)

Remember him? Well the 17-year-old without a super license is all grown up, and much to the surprise of the F1 community, he's finished in 3th place in GP2. With a war chest full of Russian backers' money, it seems almost inevitable that Sirotkin will be driving an F1 car at one point in the future.

5. Sophia Floersch (Germany) [Motopark] (15!!)

Women drivers anyone? We haven't seen a women driver race on a Sunday since 1992 when Brabham was still around, and between the five women that have raced officially in F1, they're earned .5 points between them... This could all change soon however, as a promising Formula 4 rookie who earned 19 points as a 15 year old, finishing above Mick Schumacher at certain races this season looks poised to make the leap. It's fair to say that many things will have to fall into place for the young German, but its possible she could make a name for herself driving in Formula One sometime in the future.
