With 2016 all wrapped up, it crossed my mind that not much has changed in the pecking order (minus Haas). To explore the extent to which that's true, I crunched the numbers and below are all the stats you'll need to impress your friends with:
Mercedes (2015 vs. 2016)
703 (1st) vs. 765 (1st) + 62
Red Bull - Renault
187 (4th) --> 468 (2nd) + 281
Ferrari
428 (2nd) --> 398 (3rd) - 30
Force India - Mercedes
136 (5th) --> 173 (4th) + 37
Williams - Mercedes
257 (3rd) --> 158 (5th) - 99
McLaren - Honda
(9th) 27 --> 76 (6th) + 49
Toro Rosso - Renault
67 (7th) --> 63 (7th) - 4
Haas - Ferrari
N/A --> 29 (8th) + 29
Lotus/Renault
78 (6th) --> 8 (9th) - 70
Sauber - Ferrari
(8th) 36 --> 2 (10th) - 34
Marussia/Manor - Ferrari
(10th) 0 --> 1 (11th) + 1
The biggest gain made was Red Bull with 289 points added since last year
The biggest fall came from Williams, after they dropped 99 points from last year
Manor was the only team to gain points and move down in the standings
Last year 40% of the teams were British, this year that number dropped to 27%
Out of the 10 teams that returned from last season, only two teams remained at the same position as 2015
