Max Chilton vs. The (racing) World

It was confirmed recently that Mr. Consistency Max Chilton has been given another shot at Marussia. Let's just face the truth here immediately, he's a pay driver, I mean, he's even sponsored by PDVSA to top it off. "But he finished every race Samuel!" Great for him, who cares?

Bianchi had no driver-induced dnfs and Chilton just didn't have his engine blow up twice. Of course the team benefits from not having to spend time on repairs, but most of the parts come with them either way so it doesn't help money wise. Also, finishing last consistently has no value! If Riccardo finishes every race in 11th for Red Bull, great for him, but it doesn't help the team at all. Plus, his only contribution was blocking the Caterhams in Monaco when Bianchi was taken out by Maldonado, which didn't even matter in the end. He ended up 4 places behind Bianchi, and couldn't beat either of the Caterhams, thus producing nothing for the team. Now that you know my opinion, here are the facts:

Chilton vs. Other drivers
Other choices include:

3rd driver Gonzalez,

Formula Renault 3.5 runner-up Vandoorne,

2012 GP2 Champion Valshecci (after the Maldonado announcement),

2013 GP2 Champion Fabio Leimer

4th place GP2 Felipe Nasr

3rd place in GP2 James Calado

Out of all those options and more, would you have chosen Chilton? Obviously not right? Chilton's highest honor was 4th in GP2 2012. All of these guys look more qualified, but lets put them head to head
