Human Vs. Machine

You most likely have heard that autonomous cars are becoming an extremely feasible technology. Ford has even developed a fully capable machine. Do autonomous cars have a future in racing? There are a few issues that jump out at you when considering the possibility. How do they pass/defend? If one car defends and the other is set up with a motion detector to prevent crashes, will it be able to move in the direction of the other car in order to make the pass? Also, will it even be a competition? If all the cars are set-up to go to the limit, will one be faster than the other? All these are questions to consider. However, if there are solutions to this, it would be an awesome series. The absolute pinnacle of mechanical engineering incorporated into the greatest sport in the world. Watching them battle it our would be like Formula E, the best of side categories.

However, despite these faults, they wouldn't have to worry about the effect of G forces on humans, meaning there could feasibly be little to no regulations, which would result in the cars being faster than anything other circuit racing car on the planet. Who wouldn't want to see the fastest of the fastest?

Yes, they may be faster, but machines have no personalities, no mistakes, no bliss, no anguish. That's what truly makes Formua 1.
