F1 Team Predictions 2014 - Better or Worse?

Red Bull Renault: Worse

The reigning champions look set to hit a road-bump in 2014. Renault has been very quiet about their new engine, and James Allison predicted better results for Ferrari and Mercedes new season. Beyond the engine, losing those two engineers has apparently weakened them quite a bit as they immediately scrambling to find replacements. Ricciardo is also a wild-card for them as he's only a second year driver. All in all, it doesn't look great for their chances at a 5th championship.

Mercedes AMG Petronas: Better

They finished 2nd this season so you know what better means, I'm predicting the 2014 Constructor's Championship will go to Germany next season. They have repeatedly said that 2014 is their ultimate goal, so if they don't do it, they'd probably exit the sport in 2016. They have engineers galore, money through the roof, crazy amounts of experience, the best driver line up on the grid, and the motivation to go all the way.

Scuderia Ferrari: Better

If everything goes well for them, they could manage a second place next year. There's nothing to say that their car is going to be more competitive than it has the last few seasons, but with Raikkonen and Alonso, they will reel in points like mad. They might manage second in the Constructors, but where they'll do better is in points total.

Lotus F1 Team: Worse

They relied a lot on tire management last season, and if Pirelli actually does their job for 2014, tires won't be a factor. It's true their car was good towards the end of the season, but Maldonado will drain a lot of their points.

McLaren Mercedes: Better

How could they do worse?

2014 Prediction:

1 Mercedes
2 Red Bull
3 Ferrari
4 McLaren Mercedes
5 Lotus
