4. Jules Bianchi
He hasn’t been here for a while, but what a way to come
back. For starters, he beat the Caterhams, which is unbelievably important for
the Marussia team as they are one race away from securing an extra 3 million
dollars from a potential 10th place finish. Talk about the real
value of a driver. Keep in mind that the Marussia is still vastly inferior to
the Caterhams, so its similar to when Alonso was beating the Red Bulls at
certain points last season. Also, he held off the charging Gutierrez for three
laps, before he tore through the midfield reaching a maximum position of 5th.
Not bad Jules, not bad at all.
3. Esteban Gutierrez
I would have put him at first if he hadn’t collided with
Maldonado at the end. Yes, I know it was Maldonado that he was facing, but
either way it was more of a racing incident than a one-sided crash. However,
that just comes down to him being a rookie with little experience who overdid
it when trying to overtake on the last lap, costing his team.
2. Valteri Bottas
Well, he basically went completely under the radar for all
the races between Canada and now (10 races). But when he came back, he came
back with a bang, quadrupling the amount of point Williams had previously
obtained. Pretty much humiliating a certain teammate who decided it was more
important to take out Sutil and Gutierrez than to race.
1.Sergio Perez
This one definitely had to go to him, he 100% deserves this
win. As a driver, there will always be those few races that you cherish more
than all the others, your trophies on your figurative shelf. This one will definitely
go in his collection. Home GP, possibly one of the last races of his extremely short
Formula One career, he drives beautifully to fight for a seat in F1. Was it
enough? Probably not, but this was his shining moment at McLaren and he showed
his inner fire on Sunday.
