V6s: What They'll Change

Exhaust use: The turbos will change the use of exhaust. It will be sent towards the turbo, and will lessen the amount of exhaust. This will take away from the diffuser, hence rear downforce may become more of an issue. On top of that, because the engine is bigger, it will block more airflow to the rear wing. It will be interesting to see how teams will deal with this. Raising the rear wing, channeling air in the undertray, or something more creative, I look forward to seeing what teams come up with.

Weight: The engines will increase the weight of the cars, and thin the margin between lowest possible weight and minimum weight limit. This means there won;t be as much opportunity for ballast use as there was before. Red Bull is known to use ballast more than other teams and more effectively.

Pace determined by engine: Currently, the top three are Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes. All three different engines, but next year, we could see that change based on engine, where certain teams get better pace because of engine.
