Canadian Grand Prix-Track Analysis

Length: 4.361 (2.71 mi)

Gear Changes per lap: 50 (3500 for the whole race)
Opened: 1978
FIA Grade: 1

The Curcuit de Gilles Villuneve in Quebec, Canada is a classic track dedicated to a legendary driver. It's  tough track that features a wall famous or taking out champions. Here's a lap breakdown: down the straight and brake aproximately 50 meters from the apex. 7th to 3rd gear at race speed. Turn 2 (Virage Senna) requires one more downshift and a late apex. 3 & 4 require kerb usage and close grazing of the wall. Turn 5 is flat out, and 8 & 9 are replicas of 3 & 4, a right-left complex taken in second gear. the next turn is the hairpin (L'EPingle) , one of the hardest braking corners on the F1 calendar. It is taken in a V formation in order to come out on the best line in order to come out on to the next straight with maximum efficiency. Usually it's a big overtaking corner, but due to the two DRS zones, it could change. Anyway, then it's on to the straight then to the wall of champions. That caught out Maldonado last year during quali, spinning him around before the start-finish.

My Predictions:

Winner: Hamilton
Pole: Hamilton
Expert's Pick: Alonso
