Remember When?: 2003 Japanese Grand Prix

The 2003 Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka is usually not on the list of most important races of all time, but I certainly believe that it does. The last race, in the U.S was won by Michael Schumacher, vaulting him into a position where only Kimi Raikkonen was mathematically eligible. Only just though, in order to min, he'd have to win and Schumacher would have to score no points. In the end, Schumacher marginally hung on to his title by finishing in the minimum position requirement to win the title, 8th. Raikkonen didn't manage to win, Barichello did, clinching Ferrari's 13th world constructors title. The final result was Schumacher first with 93 points, and Raikkonen in second with 91 points.

Most importantly, it marked Michael Schumacher's 6th World Championship, the record at the time. He started the season miserably, he wasn't even in the top five at the third race. In the end, it was a spectacular comeback and a record that could stand for many years to come.
