Midfield/Back-Marker Drivers to Watch For 2014

Charles Pic: This can proven by using a simple equation, Bianchi is to Marussia what Pic is to Caterham. Bianchi takes the Marussia past his teammate consistently and so does Pic. Given, both of their teammates are rookies, however that doesn't discount their acheivements. He is slowly moving up and proving himself, and since Toro Rosso is due for a driver change-up next year, he would easily be one of the best candidates for the spot (they change every 2 years booting Buemi and Alguersuari in 2012, Bourdais for 2009/2010, and Speed for 2008). There he would have a chance to truly prove himself and actually scoring points. Many believe he could be a future race winner, so he definitely deserves a spot on this list.

Jules Bianchi: By far, he is the best driver on the bottom half of the field this year. Putting a lap between him and his teammate for two races in a row. There's not much more I can say about him without sounding like I'm idolizing him, but long story short, he is an exceptional driver. On top of that, he has ties with Force India and Ferrari, so expect him to move up next season.

Jean-Eric Vergne: Again, he is a major candidate for the spot at RBR, even if there are better options, he technically inherits the spot. Even if that does happen, he'll either be kicked out, in which case he will most likely be in a upper-level series of racing, like Le Mans, DTM, V8SC or something of that sort, which still makes him important. Or, he'll be kept, and Toro Rosso seems to be moving up the field, so he'll still be a driver to watch.

Davide Valsecchi: While Lotus isn't technically a Midfield team anymore, his image comes up when you Google 'f1 backmarkers 2013', so technically he counts in my book. Anyways, he won GP2 last year, and is currently a Lotus 3rd driver (see image above, 2nd from the left). If a spot on a back-marker opens up, which it most likely will, he can do what Bianchi did, and go from a midfield 3rd driver to the first driver at a smaller team.
