Track Preview: Malaysia

The Sepang Circuit in Malaysia is truly a set up challenge for the teams on the grid. Long straights, matched with tight hairpins and quick curvy corners. The set up tends to go the the fast side in the end, however since it will probably rain during the race, the srt up will probably end up on the safe side. Which brings me to my next point. If it is relatively dry in qualifying and wet in the rave as is predicted, a few thing will definitely define the results of the race. One, is which set up to give the car. Giving the car a dry set up and being high up in qualifying, and hoping things don't get too bad in the race, or vice versa. Last year, Mercedes did the first and qualified well, but fell far back in the race. You should expect them to do the opposite this year.

The next point, is that overtaking will be extremely different. No DRS will available, on top of the heavy rains and hence the inevitable lakes that will be on the field. That, on the flip side, will also mean that the overtakes will be spectacular. The next point is corners 5 and 6 often see many drivers going off because of the quick steering wheel input necessary to get around there at speed. Then, there will also be the tires. Tires will be less of an issue due to the fact that they have a smaller tire patch and won't be as hot.
