DIP: Mitch Evans

Born: 24 June 1994
Age: 18
Nationality: New Zealand
Current team: Arden International
Current Series: GP2

Mitch Evans first started racing formula cars 6 years ago in 2007. He drove Formula First cars, an open wheel car series based in New Zealand. Then he moved on to move F1-relevant Formula Ford. He won 13 out of his 24 races in the series, although could not secure a championship in New Zealand Formula Ford. When he moved on the Australian Formula Ford series he finished runner-up, however was still drafted for Formula 3 for the last round of that championship. When he transferred from NZ's Formula 3 to the Australian Driver's Championship, he was an immediate hit. He grabbed pole and the win in his first race. Despite him not even competing in the second round, he won the championship. After winning that, he moved on to GP3. In two seasons, he went from 9th to 2nd in the championship. He was endorsed after his second season by Mark Webber as "...an exceptional talent.". His skill carried him to GP2 with Arden, and even though he was suffering from food poisoning, he managed a third place, hence becoming the youngest driver to stand on the podium at 18 years of age.

Why he'll end up in F1:

1 He's endorsed by Mark Webber.

2 He's an exceptional driver.

3 He's got a chance to win the GP2 championship this year, and the winner almost always ends up in F1.

4 He's young and has time even if he doesn't win soon.

5 He's extremely fit.
